A four-week revision plan for nursing exams
5 minute read
Four weeks is enough to improve a lot if the time is spent on the right things. This plan assumes about two hours on weekdays and three hours on one weekend day. Move the days around to fit your timetable, but keep the order of the weeks.
Week 1: find where you stand
- List every topic on your syllabus and mark each red, amber or green for how confident you feel.
- Sit one full paper under exam conditions and mark it with the scheme.
- Use the results to turn the red and amber list into a revision order, weakest first.
Week 2: close the biggest gaps
- Work on your red topics in sessions of about 45 minutes with a 10-minute break.
- Use active recall: close the notes and write or say what you remember, then check.
- Finish the week with a short quiz on the topics you studied.
Week 3: practise under pressure
- Sit two or three timed papers. Mark each one the same day.
- Sort lost marks by cause and fix them before the next paper.
- Practise planning long answers in two minutes.
Week 4: consolidate and rest
- Redo your weakest questions and review your own one-page summaries.
- Take one final paper early in the week, not the night before.
- Keep the last two days light: no new topics, early nights, and everything for exam day ready.
